POITRAS - Tillie Poitras was born on December 11, 1932 in the Ituna district, a daughter of Fred and Clara (Careful) Ross.  She attended Drumage and Tulleymet schools.  On January 1, 1952 Tillie was united in marriage to Joseph Poitras and began their life together in Tulleymet and later Ituna.  They raised eight children and after her last child began school she started working for Bill Landy at the Ituna Hotel to supplement the family income.  She later worked as a Geriatric Aide at Pioneer Lodge, an Ambulance Attendant and a driver of the Kinsmen van for many years.  Tillie kept herself busy growing a large garden, caring for her flowers and pots.  She was also known for her homemade bread, perogies, and lemon meringue and raisin pie.  One of Tillie's favourite pastimes was playing cards with her special friends, Wanda, Mary & Pat.  She loved to have visitors, especially her grandchildren who knew that her coffee pot was always on.  Memorable times in Tillie's life were her visits to Steen River where she loved fishing and camping.  Tillie also enjoyed quilting, doing jigsaw puzzles, listening to music and going to bingo.  Tillie was a faithful member of St. Stanislaus Church for many years.  Attending mass every Sunday was important to her.
