ROEBUCK - Mrs. Bernice Roebuck of Theodore, beloved wife of Chris Roebuck passed away on Friday, January 20, 2005 following a couregeous battle with cancer. She was 49 years of age. Bernice was born on September 7, 1956 at Yorkton, Saskatchewan, a daughter to Steve and Rose Krupa of Sheho, SK. She was the eldest daughter of six children. She attended Deer Creek School for a year, Otthon for a few years and the remainder of her education at Sheho and Foam Lake. A lot of time when Bernice was growing up years was spent at her grandmother's in Otthon.
Bernice met the love of her life, Chris Roebuck in August, 1973 and later that year moved to Chris's family homestead in the Theodore district. She enjoyed life on the farm, planting flowers, taking care of the house and always spending time with family.
On March 6, 1976 Bernice gave birth to her first daughter Andrea. This was followed by the birth of twins, Laura Lee and Laura Lynn on October 11, 1977. On April 3, 1979 Angela was born and finally Amy in May 20, 1980. Bernice's hands were full. Following the birth of her daughters she spent all her time raising her children. Bernice stayed home with them from the day they were born until the day they left. While raising her daughters she started a part - time job with Diana May Clay in 1988 decalling ceramics. She continued to decal ceramics for many years On April 8, 2003 she started a job with BDC Courier. She enjoyed this job and is blessed with all the friends she met at this job. In September of 2004, Bernice was diagnosed with a form of lung cancer. Following that she stayed in Regina for a long time and received all sorts of treatments. Bernice was very brave and fought all she had. In April 2005 Bernice was told she was in remission and happily returned to work. Then on September 30, 2005 she was again told that the cancer had returned and was advised to quit her job. In the last months of her life she gladly took care of her pets, her house and her family. Bernice enjoyed Christmas with all her family and on January 8, 2006 celebrated their 20th. Wedding Anniversary and 33 years together.
Bernice was predeceased by her parents Steve and Rose (Kolodzieczak) Krupa, a brother Dale Krupa (in infancy); her nephew Andy Mikkonen; her father in - law Louis Roebuck and mother - in - law Nettie Roebuck. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Chris Roebuck; her children: Andrea Ostapovitch and her husband Todd Ostapovitch and their children Jared and Kaitlynn of Lloydminster, Laura Lee Roebuck and Chris Woronuik and their son Dawson of Wynyard, Laura Lynn Fedyk and her husband Brad Fedyk and their children, Jason, Shannon and Kaylee of Jedburgh, Angela Roebuck and Stephen Yaholnitsky of Regina, Amy Roebuck and Corey Slobozian and their son Owen and one on the way of Shortdale, MB; her brothers and sisters: Laurel Mikkonen, Cathy Mikkonen, Stephen Krupa, Eugene Krupa and Robert Krupa. Bernice will be missed by many nephews, nieces, brothers - in - law, sisters - in - law, friends and cousins.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 24th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Fr. Wendelin Rolheiser, OMI from St. Gerard's R.C. Church officiating. A special selection, 'Lost in Your Eyes' by Melissa Etheridge was played as the processional. The reader was Dolores Spreitzer. The organist, Rita Hilbig led members of the choir in the singing of the hymns, 'I Will Never Forget You' and 'Be Not Afraid'.
Serving as honorary bearers were Todd Ostapovitch, Chris Woroniuk, Brad Fedyk, Stephen Yaholnitsky and Corey Slobozian.
Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
