Here is a step-by-step guide to help persons who wish to write the obituary of their loved one.

In the first paragraph include the following information:

Name

Age

Address

Date of death

Place of death

Length of illness (optional)

In the second paragraph include the following information:

Date of birth

Birthplace

Parents

Military service if applicable

Residential history

Next paragraph:

Schooling, and education accomplishments

Degrees earned

Licenses held

Next paragraph:

Work history

Next paragraph:

Church membership

Club membership

Hobbies and interests

Next paragraph may include the Survivors

Spouse

Children (include spouse in parenthesis) and place of residence

Grandchildren (usually not more than twelve to be listed individually)

Great grandchildren

Parents

Grandparents

Siblings

You may wish to list nephews, nieces, cousins or friends if there is no other immediate family.

List family that predeceased him/her – usually done in order of spouse, parents, children, grandchildren, and siblings

Next paragraph:
