Obituary of Patricia Polachek

The family of Patricia Polachek of Yorkton, beloved wife of David Polachek, sadly announce her passing on January 21, 2025. She was 77 years of age.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Deborah Smith of Westview United Church officiating.

A private interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane, Yorkton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations in memory of Patricia Polachek may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan as gifts of remembrance.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

 

The family of Patricia Polachek of Yorkton, beloved wife of David Polachek, sadly announce her passing on January 21, 2025. Patricia was 77 years of age.

Patricia was born on April 9, 1947 at a Red Cross outpost in Carragana, SK to Leonard Robert and Comelia (McAndie) Abbott. Patricia was the eldest of 4 children and with her family lived and attended school in many communities across the province, including Weekes, Nipawin, Isham, Kyle, Madison, and Lintlaw, as well as a move overseas to Scotland.

As a child, Patricia was involved in drama, band, curling and hockey, where she was known to spend a fair amount of time in the penalty box.

Patricia met David as a student at Kelvington High School and the two were married in 1966 where they began their lives together raising their three daughters, Angelina, Prudence and Joelle. Patricia and David resided and worked in Titchfield, Dinsmore, Wadena, Norquay, Pelly, Alameda, Carrot River, Regina, and finally made their way to their final stop in Yorkton.

Patricia was employed as a care aide at the Fort San Tuberculosis Sanitorium, as a receptionist for an optometrist and in various retail sales and management positions.

Patricia gave much back to her community as a volunteer and board member for the Cancer Society, United Way and the United Church. Patricia led a number of youth programs including Brownies, Girl Guides, and United Church Messengers. She was also actively involved in the Kinettes, Lions Club, and Eastern Star.

Patricia was a devoted Mother to her three daughters and found so much joy in watching them become Mothers and relished in her role as Grandmother.

Patricia is predeceased by her Father Leonard Robert and Mother Comelia Abbott; Mother in-law Mary Polachek, and Father in-law Joseph Polachek.

Patricia is survived by her husband David Polachek; daughters Angelina (Larry) Kardynal, Prudence (Chad) Achtymichuk and Joelle (Mark) Smith; grandchildren Jagger and Willow Kardynal, Ewan (Maureen) Achtymichuk, Jude and Georgina Achtymichuk, Hudson and Emily Smith; great grandchild Kingston; brothers Lennie (Elaine) Abbott, Ian (Joanne) Abbott, Bobby (Sophie) Abbott. Brother in-laws Kenny (Beverly) Polachek, Ronnie (Jeanette) Polachek, Keith (Deb Mosewich) Polachek, and Gordon Polachek. Patricia is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, the United States, and Scotland.
