Obituary of Randal Everett Adamson

Randal Everett (Randy) Adamson of Goodeve passed away on January 31, 2025 at Ituna Pioneer Lodge. Randy was born in Calgary in 1951 to Doug and Evelyn Adamson. Like his father, he loved discussing politics all his life, often engaging in long conversations about what would make life better for the “little guy”.

Randy had some early health challenges that resulted in him needing extra homework time to learn to read; as part of his homework, he would often invite his younger sister, Heather, to take part, and he successfully taught her to read too! After high school, he enrolled at Mount Royal College, becoming the editor of the college paper, The Reflector. He also developed a love for rock music, and he could quote all the lyrics of classic songs through the rest of his life.

Randy lived in all four western provinces at various times in his life, but he returned home to live with his parents at times when he felt he could help them. He lived with them in Rimbey following the tragic death of his sister, Sandra, and again in Cochrane when his mom developed a chronic debilitating disease.

Following the passing of his mom in 2005, Randy moved to Goodeve, and like his mother, developed a love for caring for goats. He was a dedicated owner, often having “bottle babies” that he gave special care to if their own mothers were unable to care for them. On the occasion of his father’s 90th birthday in Calgary, he put his current bottle baby into the back seat of his car and made the eleven-hour drive with stops for feeding on the way there and back. The baby goat was the hit of the party and spent a couple of happy nights in the Calgary garage before returning home with Randy.

Randy was predeceased by his parents and his youngest sister, Sandra. He is survived by his brother, Larry, and sister, Heather. A family memorial will take place in Calgary.
