Obituary of Terry Proskie
Terry James Proskie
On June 7, 1976, Terry started working at CKOS-TV in Yorkton as a technician. He continued in this role for many years until April of 1999. Shortly after this he began working with the Commissionaires Corps of Saskatchewan, where he continued until retirement in 2021. His role here was as hospital security at the Yorkton Regional Hospital, and as a Bylaw Officer in the southeast area. He also spent many days on the road delivering vehicles for Royal Ford all over the province.
Terry was heavily involved in Scouting throughout his life, both growing up as a youth participant and then as a leader after moving to Yorkton. He spent many years as a district executive as well, working with the Parkland District in many different positions. In 1983, he led a group of youths from the 2nd Venture group to the World Jamboree in Kananaskis. In 1984, Terry was one of the founding staff members of Campanoe Challenge. Regularly, he could be found helping out doing maintenance at the camp at Good Spirit Lake throughout the year. He gave this passion to his kids who are still involved to this day.
Terry was very active in the ANAVETS in Yorkton. He was involved in various roles throughout his time in the club and enjoyed all of his moments there. He was also an avid bowler who regularly participated in the Wednesday night league for many years in Yorkton.
Terry enjoyed times with family and friends, and documented many of those times with his camera in his hand. It wasn’t uncommon to see him in the background, lens pointed directly at the action and then hear the shutter sound going off. He also enjoyed tinkering around at home or helping family out, doing woodworking projects or fixing someone’s TV, just being helpful however he could.
Terry married Vivian Kowalchuk on September 15, 1979, and they have two children; Trevor, born October 10, 1980, and Christopher, born November 28, 1984.
Terry is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Julia (Adamowsky) Proskie; brother Tony Proskie; and brother-in-law Orland Zimmer.
Terry is lovingly remembered by his sister, Gladys Krepakevich, son Trevor (MacKenzie) Proskie, son Christopher Proskie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
