Mary Hearn passed away on February 9th 2025 at Kensington Village Long Term care home in London Ontario. She was the daughter of John and Annie Statchuk of Buchanan, Saskatchewan. Mary was born on June 8, 1928. She married Archie Hearn on October25, 1945 in Buchanan Ukrainian Catholic Church. They were blessed with one daughter, Yvonne and her husband Andrew and two wonderful grandsons, Darren (Kim), Colin (Kelsie) and great grandchild Lennox, always her pride and joy.
Archie and Mary farmed for 8 years around Buchanan and spent the winters in Toronto. In 1954 they sold their farm and moved to Toronto. After some years they moved back to Saskatchewan which was their favorite place to live as Saskatchewan was home.
Mary was an excellent seamstress always looking for new challenges.
In 1985 Mary and Archie retired at Spiritwood Acres near Good Spirit Lake. Those were the best days of their lives as they enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping. Mary was an avid golfer. She was determined to go to one of many tournaments with a fractured wrist without a cast on.
After Archie's death in October of 1998, she remained in their home for seven years. After a big farewell given by the residents of Spiritwood Acres, she moved to London, Ontario to be near her family. There she continued to golf until the age of 84. She would go back to Saskatchewan to visit family and friends. In 2005 she had the pleasure of visiting her cousin in Australia which was very exciting. While there, she enjoyed golfing and had fun watching the penguins and kangaroos while sightseeing. Mary had the pleasure of spending her winters in Atlanta since her daughter and family moved there in 2007. She spent a great amount of time with her grandsons and especially made time to attend their sporting events.
Mary is survived by her daughter Yvonne (Andrew); Grandsons Darren (Kim), Colin (Kelsie); Great grandchild, Lennox. Brother Maurice Statchuk of Grand Bend, Ontario. Sister Lorraine Slogocki of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Sister-in laws Margie Statchuk of Preceville, Saskatchewan and Joice Hearn of Toronto Ontario.
