Louise Olson

Obituary of Louise Olson

OLSON - Marie Louise Tremblay was born the second child of six to Marcel and Irene Tremblay (nee Cote) on January 28, 1952 in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. Louise received her schooling in Courval and Coderre and after completing grade 12 she attended Hair Design Academy in Moose Jaw.

On April 8, 1972 Louise was united in marriage to Ken Olson at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Moose Jaw. In 1973 their son Richard (Rick) was born followed by daughter Crystal in 1976. The family lived together in Moose Jaw until 1979 when they moved to the Olson Homestead where they farmed until their return to Moose Jaw in 1987.

Throughout the years, Louise worked as a hairdresser, a bus driver, in retail at Home Hardware and Canadian Tire as well as a manager for Moose Jaw Buns Master and a dish washer for the Bentley and later for Moose Jaw and District Senior Housing. Following retirement, Ken and Louise moved to Redcliff, Alberta in 2014 to be closer to their grandchildren.

Louise was a cheerful person who loved people and enjoyed visiting. She took much pride in hosting others with the coffee pot always on, good food continuously shared and laughter ever present. She loved playing cards, board games and especially Aggravation which she would often win. Louise also delighted in helping others and spending time with neighbours, friends, volunteering at lunches and having her grandsons visit and sleepover.

Always very considerate of others, Louise kept in touch with her and Ken’s many relatives, former neighbours and friends throughout the years. She was always supportive of everyone – especially during difficult times or illnesses. With a generous heart full of kindness, compassion and love, Louise made each day brighter just by being herself.

On the morning of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Louise died unexpectedly in her favourite chair at home in Redcliff.  Living on where angels sing and sorrows cease.

Louise was pre-deceased by her parents, Marcel and Irene Tremblay; two brothers, Bruno and Fernand; and her husband, Ken.

She will be forever loved and missed by her two children: Rick (Jacky) Olson of Redcliff and their sons Ryan, Drew and Theodore; Crystal (Ray) Bailey of Yorkton. Louise also leaves to cherish her memory, siblings Diana Tremblay (Lucien Cossette) of Moose Jaw; Eva Lewis of Medicine Hat; Leon Tremblay (Carol) as well as many beloved in-laws and treasured nieces and nephews.
