About nine years ago, we moved into the neighbourhood where Gale and Rena resided. We soon learned that around supper time we would on many occasions smell something wonderful coming from the barbeque from their direction. We soon learned when we heard happy laughing children outside, it was coming from their backyard. They were always hosting their family gatherings and you could hear the fun and feel the love from down the road. Then there was the beloved Koda who liked to greet everyone that walked by with a special bark hello :-). I walk quite frequently in the neighbourhood with my dog. I would meet Gale and Rena on several occasions. We would exchange greetings and light conversation and our dogs would speak to each other :-) Many days, I would look out the window and see Gale and Rena Walking hand-in-hand with their beloved Koda lleading the way. They always liked to walk and talk together. It was a heartwarming site to me that they took that time for each other. We will miss the barbeque smells, the laughter in the backyard, Koda saying hello, and knowing you were sharing family time together. Now, as we have to say goodbye to some awesome neighbors, as it was on earth, I will always remember them, walking in heaven, hand in hand with their beloved Faithful Koda In between them. To the family That we have not met, we send our heartfelt condolences for losing such special people in your lives. Take care.! Cheryl and Brian Neibrandt.

Rena was a wonderful woman, she was my head start teacher once upon a time. Sorry for the loss, my condolences.

My Condolences to all who loved this precious angel. Rena was an amazing friend and a person who gave a piece of her heart to everyone. I worked with her and Gale when we helped others who had homes with Parkland housing, we worked together with the tenants association and had an amazing relationship that I will never forget.
I think Gale got bored in Heaven and called Rena to be by his side once again. I can see them now laughing and watching over everyone they know.
May time in your journey's bring you the peace you need as you say goodbye to Rena. I will never forget them both. RIP
Love, Leticia Oystrick

We are so saddened to learn of Rena's passing. For the past 25+ years, the First Steps Aboriginal Head Start children have annually attended our Celebrate Christmas Past program and Teacher Rena was a mainstay of the group. We looked forward to their visit each year, and along with Jennifer & Vivianne, it was nice to welcome Rena like an old friend you see once a year at Christmas. Thinking back, it is not an exaggeration to say that she patiently zipped up jackets and put on boots for literally hundreds of preschoolers during that time! A whole generation of children have benefitted from her care and guidance in the program and will miss her very much.
From the Staff & Christmas Program Volunteers at the Western Development Museum - Yorkton, we extend our sincere sympathies to Rena's family and to her colleagues and students at YFSAHS. May you treasure many special memories.
