Obituary of Erwin Heuchert
It is with utmost sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Erwin Robert Heuchert on March 20, 2025 peacefully at his home in Ituna, SK.
Erwin was born to Karl and Maria (nee Koch) on December 16, 1940 at Melville Hospital. He grew up on a farm in the Goodeve area, attending the Late Star school. He began high school in Melville and moved to Regina to finish at Balfour Collegiate while living with friends of the family.
Following graduation, he was employed at the Birch Hills lumberyard and one summer he worked vacation relief in Eatonia, which unbeknownst to him, became quite important. Erwin then became employed as an orderly at the Regina General Hospital where he met his soulmate, Sharon Summers from Eatonia. They married May 1st, 1965 and were blessed with 3 children - daughter Cherylynn and sons Nolan and Dean.
While employed as a bus driver for Regina Transit, he decided to relocate his family as he did not want to raise children in the city. In 1974, Erwin and Sharon moved to a farm located 1 mile away from Hubbard. Erwin’s favorite time of year was watching the baby calves run and kick up their heels
when they were let out.
Erwin was a man of many talents and took great pride in the farm he built with his wife and family. He was a meticulous farmer who had an attention to detail in taking care of the land, the equipment, as well as all of the animals on the farm.
Erwin also took great pride in his family and their accomplishments - whether it be cheering at their various sporting events and graduations or time well spent fishing and camping with family.
Erwin absolutely LOVED being a grandpa and he excelled at it. In his gentle and loving way, he shared a special bond instilling lifelong values with each of his grandchildren.
In the past few years, Erwin was blessed with great-grandchildren who gave him many chuckles while spending precious time with them and watching videos of their latest antics.
Erwin also volunteered as a Lions member as well as serving many years on the local Co-op board. He was a treasured friend and enjoyed visiting over a cup of coffee with a good conversation.
This year, plans were being made for Erwin and Sharon’s 60th wedding anniversary that would’ve been celebrated as a family BBQ which unfortunately is not to be with his unexpected passing.
Erwin is lovingly survived by his wife Sharon, children Cherylynn (Bill), Nolan (Tanya), and Dean (Dianna); grandchildren Cole (Joelle), Ashley (Patrick), Emily (Liam), Noah, Josh, Jackson (Arleigh), Ben and Graysen; as well as great-grandchildren Sabiena, Fritz, John and Juniper. He is also survived by brother Eric (Janey); sisters-in-law Elsie, Bernie, and Vivian (Greg); brothers-in-law Ron (Florence), Larry (Mabel), and Greg (Natali); as well as many nieces and nephews. Special mention to Erwin’s longtime friend Nestor Davyduke as well as his niece Kathy who could always make Erwin smile and laugh with her yearly birthday presents.
Erwin was predeceased by his parents; siblings Siegfried, Walter, John, Elfrieda, Hilda, and Emily; parents-in-law Sydney and Evelyn; sister-in-law Eleanor; brothers-in law Arnold and Tim; nieces Sheila and Wendy; as well as nephew Alan.
Erwin, the husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will be missed so much but we take comfort in knowing he now watches over us.
“The heart of a farmer,
strong and kind.
A life of love,
you left behind”
