Obituary of Yaroslava Gloria Tatarniuk

The family of Gloria Tatarniuk, aged 102 years, beloved wife of the late Michael Tatarniuk of Vancouver, B.C., sadly announces her passing on April 10, 2025.

Yaroslava Gloria Tatarniuk was born on February 4, 1923, in the district of Borshchiw, Western Ukraine, and immigrated to Canada in June of 1949. She was predeceased by her husband Michael in 2007 and her son Steven in 2021.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Myron (Bev), five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members in both Canada and Ukraine.

Gloria was deeply proud of her Ukrainian heritage and equally proud to have made Canada her home. She was a dedicated and lifelong contributor to the Ukrainian Canadian community and to her church.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at Aspen Bluffs in Yorkton, SK, where Gloria resided for the past four years.

The funeral parastas was held on April 15 at the chapel of Bailey’s Funeral Home, with Rev. Father Basil Malowany of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. The responses were led by cantor, Lorne Stechyshyn.  Interment will take place later this summer at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Vancouver, B.C.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral Home with Larry German as the funeral director.
