Obituary of Irene O'Byrne
The family of Irene O'Byrne of Melville, beloved wife of the late John O'Byrne sadly announce her passing on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Irene was 100 years of age.
Irene O’Byrne of Melville Saskatchewan entered her eternal rest at the age of 100 years, on Sunday April 20 at St Paul Lutheran Home.
Her memory is cherished by daughters Louise (Paul), Valerie (Greg), sons Dennis, Mark (Jacqueline), sister Vivian (George). Irene had six grandkids and six great grandkids as well as many nieces and nephews.
In 1950 she married John O’Byrne and they made their home in Lewvan, Sask for many years, until they moved to Weyburn and then to Melville in 2013 where they made Caleb Village their new home.
John and Irene had four children, whom of which were very much loved and supported.
Mom was an excellent wife, mother and grandma. She was very community minded and was often seen behind the lunch counter at the local rink, helping plan wedding showers etc. and she and dad were very good neighbours wherever they lived.
She enjoyed sewing, baking (much of which was given away) knitting, crocheting, gardening and travelling on bus tours or visiting us kids.
Mom had a strong faith and many nights she fell asleep with her rosary in her hands.
She was predeceased by her husband John, parents Arcandi and Irene Trudeau, granddaughter Holly, sister Yvette, father in law Mark, brothers in law Gerry and Joe.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Weyburn at a later date.
Memorials in Irene’s memory would be greatly appreciated to St Paul Lutheran Nursing Home Melville.
The family would like to wholeheartedly thank all the staff at St. Paul’s for the compassionate and professional care you so willingly gave to our mom.
