




Obituary of Shirley Hays
The family of Shirley Hays of Yorkton, sadly announce her passing on April 26, 2025.
Evelyn Shirley Hays was born on November 24, 1934 in Yorkton, Sask., to parents Paul and Fern (nee Hykaway) Warcomika. She had one brother Ken Warcomika.
Shirley went to school in Yorkton and in the early 1950’s she worked at the Boston Café. In the mid 1970’s she owned the East Glen Motel in Westlock, AB. Upon returning to Yorkton, she was employed at Zellers.
Shirley was a proud mother to her three sons, Robert, Donald and Christopher. She loved gardening, dancing and dogs. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 77 for over 25 years.
Shirley passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the age of 90 years with her sons by her side. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Paul and Fern Warcomika, her brother Ken Warcomika, her son Christopher Holowka and her partner Tony Malainey. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her son Donald Gabert; her son Robert Kobsar (Oreshia), and his son Dylan Kobsar (Brittaney) Henley, Cassian and Ari and his daughter Rhea (Ty Pole) Madisyn and Ryder; her grandson Michael Holowka (Kaylee) Christopher and Walker, her grandson Gregory Holowka; her foster daughters Beverley, Cheryl and Kathy; her godson Marty Farthing as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating. Beverley Farthing delivered the eulogy. The honorary casket bearers were Dylan Kobsar and Gregory Holowka. The interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Robert Kobsar, Donald Gabert, Michael Holowka and Marty Farthing serving as casket bearers.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan as gifts of remembrance.
