Obituary of Lawrence Kosedy
In Loving Memory of
Lawrence Michael Kosedy
February 17, 1952 – May 4, 2025
It is with great love and deep sorrow that we remember the life of Lawrence Michael Kosedy, who passed away on May 4, 2025, in Regina, Saskatchewan, at 9:30 a.m., surrounded by his children.
Born on February 17, 1952, in Melville, Saskatchewan, Lawrence was the beloved child of Mike and Josephine Kosedy. He grew up in Melville, where he began his lifelong connection to community and family. As a youth, he played ball, hockey, ran cross-country, and worked as a paperboy. Early signs of the hard work and passion he would bring to all aspects of life.
Lawrence lived on the "wild side" in his teens but eventually found a steady path when he started his family in Killaly, Saskatchewan, in 1975. His CN Rail career began in Melville with a brief intermission for the nickel mines in Thompson, Manitoba until his return to the CN with training in The Pas, Manitoba. He served the Melville CN Rail for 30+ years until his retirement in 2005.
Lawrence (Lorenzo) wore his heart on his sleeve. He was deeply devoted to his family, his faith, and his community. A man who loved gardening, he also had a spirit for adventure and a willingness to do anything for those he loved. He was active with Alcoholics Anonymous, attended church faithfully first in Killaly and later at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Parish in Melville and found joy in music, politics, sports and writing poems. He coached his children’s ball teams, was part of the St. Henry's Drafters bowling league, and had a deep love for dogs and all animals.
Cherished Father of: Tamourae, Rico, Lance, Preston, and Blaise. Proud Grandfather of: Jordan, Logan, Sayer, Zabryn, Nikoah, Maeghan, Stihl, and Maia. Loving Brother of: Russell and Hugh. Brother-in-law to: Sharon Young and Carol Kosedy. Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews who were very special and loved by him.
He is predeceased by his son Luke, his parents Mike and Josephine, and brothers Russell and Hugh.
Lawrence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His humour, strength, loyalty, and unwavering acceptance of all who crossed his path will continue to touch our lives.
