The family of Dale Olson of Indian Head, SK., beloved husband of the Late Joanne Olson, sadly announce his passing on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was 85 years of age.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, June 10th at 11:00a.m. from the Indian Head Cemetery with Crystal Bailey officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to one's Charity of Choice as gifts of remembrance.
Ronald “Dale” Olson was born to Joseph and Vivian Olson on March 5, 1940. He was the second child in the family; a brother for Myrna, and would eventually become a big brother for Deloris, Bonnie, Kenneth, Judy, Lynda and Ivan. Dale completed grades one through eight at Greendale and the ninth grade at Tribune School.
Dale was seventeen years of age when he began working off of the family farm. He worked for other farmers in the area. Following this, he worked for Irwin Auto Parts in Weyburn as a wrecker. Eventually he worked at Cybotes for a couple of years hauling salt in the winter. Dale then moved to Lundbeck, AB with Bud Ritter to work on a large ranch. During his time on the ranch, he met Irene Mordan whom he married in 1963 and began working for Safeway Trailers and Diamond Manufacturing. Eventually, the couple moved to Regina, SK and on February 4, 1970, Dale became a father to a darling baby girl they named Kari Lyn. Dale and Irene divorced in 1972.
Dale married Joanne Jespersen in 1973 and she remained his best friend during their years together. The couple settled in Indian Head where Dale started his own business, built their home and put down roots. As the years went on, the prairie winters became less appealing so Dale and Joanne became Snowbirds. More recently, Dale took much pride and interest in helping on Phil’s farm. Dale will be remembered for being large in stature, and a quiet man with a big heart. A man of many talents, his favourite things to do were working on machinery or cars and farming.
Dale was pre-deceased by his parents, Joe and Vivian Olson; his wife, Joanne; siblings, Myrna Krantz, Deloris Jorde and Ken Olson. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kari Lyn (Terry); grandchildren, Stina and Lesley; siblings, Bonnie (Ernie) Pokletar, Judy (Zyg) Siwy, Lynda (Rodney) Johnson and Ivan (Marlene) Olson as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
