Obituary of Wanda Smuk
Wanda was born on January 30th, 1932, on the family farm near Ituna, Saskatchewan. She was the oldest daughter of Peter and Rosie Filko. Growing up on the farm, Wanda attended St. Stanislaus school, where she forged lifelong friendships and memories.
On June 16th, 1951, Wanda married the love of her life, Leonard Smuk. Together, they moved to Regina, then later to White City, where Wanda dedicated many years of her life to office administration in the city.
In retirement, Wanda and Leonard built their dream home in Fort Qu’Appelle, a place where they found peace and joy surrounded by new friends and neighbors.
Wanda had a deep love for the outdoors, and her beautiful garden was a reflection of that passion. She took immense pride in her flowers, always finding joy in the simple pleasure of working in her yard. If she wasn’t outside tending to her garden, you would surely find her in the kitchen. Wanda was a fantastic cook, always ready to welcome loved ones with a warm, home-cooked meal. Family gatherings were a highlight for Wanda, and she was the heart of many joyous occasions.
She had a special gift for making everyone feel like they were family. Whether you were visiting for the day or just passing through, Wanda always made sure you left with a full stomach and a care package to take home. Her visits, especially during harvest season, were eagerly anticipated. She would bring supper and treats out to the fields, brightening the day with her kindness and thoughtfulness.
Wanda’s heart was as warm as her kitchen. She was a kind and loving person whose generosity and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met. A simple phone call to Wanda could lift your spirits, and her welcoming presence was a constant source of comfort.
Wanda will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her love, kindness, and warmth.
She is survived by her brother Willie, many nieces and nephews, and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
