Obituary of Reynold Matcyk
It is with great sadness, that the family of Reynold Matcyk announces his passing after a short illness of pancreatic cancer. A dear Son, Brother, Uncle, Great Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend. Born March 19, 1958, Reynold grew up on the farm at Wroxton, Saskatchewan. He started school at a country school, then attended a small-town school. He completed his education in Yorkton.
Suffering with asthma throughout his younger years, farm life was not for him. So, the country boy packed up and moved to the city of Edmonton. A city guy he was, and he enjoyed it greatly.
Reynold started out his working years in sales at the House of Lights, then he needed a bigger challenge and went to sales with a couple different candy companies. This put him into travelling Western Canada, which he enjoyed greatly. He now became and was known as the “Candy Man” to his family and friends. Every Christmas, Easter, or whenever he came for holidays, there was always a big box of assorted candy and chocolates.
Reynold enjoyed travelling, which included Europe, Mexico, Cuba and other destinations. Reynold took an early retirement from being on the road. After a few years of rest, he needed to get back to work and do something different. He found his calling working at Salisbury Giftware and Greenhouse in the warehouse and then became the warehouse manager, which he enjoyed right up until his passing.
Reynold was predeceased by his Dad Frank in 2004, and Brother Melvin in 2018.
Reynold leaves to mourn and cherish, his Mom Jennie, Sisters Margaret (Ernie Lachowsky), Linda (Kelly Steven), and Audrey (Dwayne Sushetski), nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and coworkers.
We would like to thank Pointe West Cremation & Funeral Home, Edmonton and Bailey’s Funeral Home for the care given to our son and brother.
A Celebration of Life was held on May 3, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta. Reynold will be laid to rest at Yorkton Memorial Gardens at a private family gathering at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada as gifts of remembrance.
