Obituary of Martin Franko
The family of Martin Franko, beloved husband of Lillian Franko, sadly announce his passing on Friday, July 25, 2025. He was 90 years of age.
A Private Funeral will be held at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant, officiating.
The interment will follow in the Garden of St. Luke, Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton.
MARTIN FRANKO – Husband, Father, Grandfather
It is with great sadness that the family of Martin Franko, eldest son of the late John and Dora Franko and beloved husband of Lillian Franko passed away on July 25th at the age of 90 years.
Martin was born on July 19, 1935 in the Theodore district.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Lillian of 63 years; two daughters Brenda (Randy) French and Debbie (Terry) Russell; granddaughter Ami French and a sister Bettye Franko.
Besides his parents, Martin was predeceased by a sister Rose Mizinski.
Martin helped his dad with the service station for a few years. He decided to be more independent and in 1957 he took employment with the Yorkton Bus Depot as a Ticket agent. In 1958 he was employed as a Shipper/Receiver at Auto Electric in Yorkton and in 1959 with Saskatchewan Department of Highways as a Survey–Aide crew assistant. On June 13, 1960 Martin gained employment with the Yorkton Fire Department and later with Canada Post.
In 1962 he was united in marriage to Lillian Diak, daughter of William and Maggie Diak of Springside.
Martin enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, going for walks especially the ecological walk with his favourite Dog, Rocky and playing horseshoes.
