Madelyn and Paul were married on December 31, 1957. Together they raised four children. They lived at Hyas until moving to Yorkton in 1973. Madelyn was a member of the Citizen on Patrol Program (COPP). She enjoyed her experiences with the organization and had a great deal of respect for RCMP and firefighters.
Madelyn was a devoted mother who raised her children to work hard and be respectful and unselfish. She helped them with their schoolwork and sewed clothes, costumes, grad dresses and bridesmaid dresses. Madelyn encouraged her children to pursue any sport they might choose. She ensured that they went to school every weekday and Sunday School and church every Sunday.
Madelyn and Paul spent many hours making their cabin at Crystal Lake what it is today. Madelyn built a rock wall behind the cabin, behind woodstove and the fire pit by the beach. She never thought of anything as being hard work. She loved the work that she did. She always had a smile on her face as she went about her projects. Madelyn had a wide variety of interests including curling, golfing, gardening, quilting, knitting, crocheting and sewing.
Madelyn enjoyed going for coffee at the old A & W and the last few years at the DQ where she met her new coffee friends who always made her day.
