Obituary of Ron Harvey
The family of Ronald Harvey of Tonkin, SK, beloved husband of Joyce Harvey, passed away on July 28, 2025.
Ron was born on September 28, 1957, en route to the Yorkton hospital. He grew up on the family farm near Wroxton with his five siblings.
He was known as a mentor, a teacher, and for his one-liners of wisdom — often followed by a signature thumbs-up, a gesture his grandchildren proudly copy when they know they’ve done a good job. Ron created many cherished memories growing up on the farm. He was a proud man — proud of his work, proud of his life, but most of all, proud of his family.
He shared a beautiful life with his wife Joyce and would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary this September. Together, they raised two children, Amy and Scott, and were blessed with seven cherished grandchildren: Lian, Sierra, Eira, Keagen, Reese, Jaxton, and Ryker — all of whom he loved deeply and endlessly.
Ron worked at the Yorkton Co-op for 35 years before retiring in 2018. He was well known in the community, especially for “Ron’s Burgers” and his witty jokes. During this time, he also farmed side-by-side with his brother Gary.
To know Ron was to experience kindness, humor, and authenticity. He was a friend to many — quick with a joke, sharp with his wit, and always ready to lend a helping hand. He was soft and tender when it mattered most, honest in a way only the truest people are, and generous to his core. A jack of all trades and master of many, he pursued countless hobbies and was never shy to try something new. An avid outdoorsman, Ron loved nature and always looked forward to hunting season. He would give the shirt off his back without hesitation and believed deeply in the goodness of people.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, George and Florence, and his sisters, Janet Lee and Barb Atkinson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; daughter Amy (Jordan) Armstrong and grandchildren Lian, Sierra, Eira, and Reese; son Scott (Colleen) Harvey and their children Keagen, Jaxton, and Ryker; sister Betty (Gene) Denischuk; brother Gary (Mary) Harvey; sister Karen (Kelly) Lazurko; brothers in law Larry Lee and Stephen Atkinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Ron's Life was held on Friday, August 1, from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Shelly Morris officiating. The interment followed in the Garden of Memories, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Scott Harvey serving as urn bearer.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tonkin Curling Club as gifts of remembrance.
