Obituary of Jerry Duda
The family of Jerry Steve Duda of the Hubbard District sadly announce his passing on August 10, 2025 at Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 82.
Jerry (and his twin sister Jane) were born March 26, 1943 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville, SK to Fred and Mary (Horudko) Duda. He attended Stanislaus School near Hubbard, SK up to grade 9. In his early working days, he worked with Potash Construction near Colonsay. He then met Susan Ferguson and the two were united in marriage June 20, 1970 at Sacred Heart Parish in Ituna, SK. They settled on the farm and had 2 children. Daughter Jennifer Dawn was born August 18, 1971 and on December 1, 1972 they were blessed with a son Dennis Dean. Dad was a farmer inside and out. There was no better day on the farm for him than the day harvest wrapped up.
Right until the day before his passing he was asking how Dennis was doing on the farm.
In his younger years during the winter he would volunteer his time to work in the canteen at the Ituna Arena. He enjoyed the kids and visiting with everyone he met at the rink. He didn’t venture off the farm a lot. A day at Good
Spirit Lake with a bag of briquets and some hot dogs was a big adventure. Then mom finally convinced him to take a trip to California and Hawaii for their 25th anniversary, she had to drag him there and then listen to him complain on the way home because he thought they should have stayed longer. They became Craven fans and spent many years at the music festival with the friends they made there.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years Susan; his daughter Jennifer (Vince) Schick and their children Avery (Bren) Forbes (great grandchildren Greyson, Rylie and Cade) and Michael (Olivia) Schick; his son Dennis (Jenn) Duda and their children Ethan Duda and Shaylee Duda; his sister Jane Duda; his brother-in-law Rick Ferguson and numerous family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary Duda.
He will be missed.
A private family Funeral Service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Charity of One's Choice as gifts of remembrance.
