Obituary of Ervin Bugoy
The family and friends of Ervin Bugoy of the Otthon District, beloved husband of Alma Laviolette, sadly announce his passing on August 24, 2025. Ervin was 74 years of age.
Ervin was born in Yorkton on August 1, 1951, the only child of Leslie and Elizabeth (nee Holowka) Bugoy. From the age of 12, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Stella and Edward Chesney. Ervin enjoyed gardening with his aunt Stella. He helped on the farm raising cattle, horses, and dogs.
He attended school first at East Otthon School, then at Central Otthon School, and later in Yorkton at the Yorkton Regional High School. Following his education, Ervin worked as a school bus driver for a brief time before joining the CN for approximately 30 years as a locomotive engineer.
Ervin was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Elizabeth and his aunt and uncle, Stella and Edward. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Alma Laviolette, and many cousins and friends
A Prayer Vigil was held on Monday, September 1, 2025 from St Gerards Roman Catholic Church, 125 3rd Avenue North, Yorkton with Scott and Colleen Hoffart serving as Presiders. Hymns included; Holy Darkness and The Lord Is My light. Colleen Bourne provided musical accompaniment.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Sathiadas Antony serving as Celebrant. Hymns included; Be Not Afraid, Prayer of St. Francis, On Eagle's Wings, and Amazing Grace. Chris Fisher provided musical accompaniment. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke, Yorkton Memorial Gardens, with Harold Bucsis, Ralph Nagy, Daryl Laviolette, Ian Hardy, Tom Stachura, and Jud Stachura serving as Casket Bearers.
Memorial donations in memory of Ervin Bugoy may be made to a charity of choice as gifts of remembrance.
