Obituary of Terry Monka
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Monka, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on September 21, 2025.
Terry was born in Yorkton on April 5, 1957 to Bruce and Joan Monka. He was the oldest of three children. Terry grew up in Minton and moved back to Yorkton when he was a young adult to work at Pepsi Cola and then Leon’s. Because he was so passionate about vehicles, he eventually moved into a long career as a detailer with several of the dealerships in town. He was known for being very thorough and particular in his work. Terry was a very proud father and loved to brag about his sons Brendan and Brett every chance he got.
Terry loved music, especially live music and attending concerts. He was a friend to many and seemed to know someone wherever he went. He loved to talk your ear off about the latest music or vehicle that came out. He was also incredibly thoughtful and loved to put together gifts at holidays for his grandchildren and all the great nieces and nephews, whether for birthdays, Christmas or Halloween. Terry was truly a kind and gentle man who always asked how you were doing and what you were up to and genuinely took an interest in what you had to say.
Terry will be sadly missed by his mother, Joan; his sons Brendan (Ashley) and Brett; his grandchildren Nolan and Reese; his brother Wayne and sister Shawna (Al), uncles Gerald (Paulette) and Archie (Jenny) as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Terry was predeceased by his father Bruce and his grandparents, Stella and Mike Monka and Sophie and Guy Howard.
The Funeral Service was held on Saturday October 4, at 11:00 a.m. from Westview United Church, 355 Bradbrooke Drive, Yorkton, Saskatchewan, with Reverend Deborah Smith officiating. Acoompanist Karen Muir lead the congregation in the hymns 'Come In and Sit Down' and 'How Great Thou Art'. Shaleen Erwin provided words of remembrance. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery, with Dan Lange, Luke Monka, Michael Nagy, Tommy Erwin, Leo Erwin, Dustin Miller and Charles Shindle serving as casket bearers.
Memorial donations in memory of Terry may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (Saskatchewan Division) 2702 12th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4T 1J2, or the SPCA 79 7th Avenue South, Yorkton, Saskatchewan S3N 3V1 as gifts of remembrance.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
