Obituary of Melba Wiens
Melba Ann Wiens
March 12, 1959 – September 23, 2025
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Melba Ann Wiens of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Melba was born in Calgary, Alberta, on March 12, 1959, to Nick Rondow and Sharon Edith Howes.
Melba’s deep love for animals began early in her life and became a defining part of who she was. In her twenties, that passion led her to work with horses in the Regina and Moose Jaw area, helping to breed and care for them. Animals were always close to her heart, and she found great comfort and joy in caring for them throughout her life.
Melba met the love of her life, Larry Wiens, in 1999. The two married and made Yorkton their home in 2002, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Larry, and her children Cody Sluth, Chad Sluth (Sam), Sheldon King (Brittany), Mitchel Goshagar (Vanessa), and Alysha King (Austin).
Melba will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She adored spending time with them, watching them grow, and showering them with endless love and laughter.
Those who knew Melba will remember her for her amazing laugh that could brighten any room, her selflessness in always putting others before herself, and her heart of gold that touched everyone she met.
Her warmth, humor, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Though she is gone, the love she gave and the joy she shared will continue to live on through her family and all whose lives she touched.
A celebration of Melba’s life will be held on October 11, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Yorkton Memorial Gardens. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share memories in her honor.
Melba is lovingly remembered by her stepfather, Edward Chris Moen, and by her siblings:
Her brother Edward Arthur Moen (born 1974) and his partner Tatyana, her sister Melody Dawn Yuzik (born 1976) and her partner Ryan, and her sister Koni Kay Cherry (born 1977).
She was also deeply loved by her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy: Taylor, Ryan, Sadie, Allie, Lily, Noah, Whitney, Logan, and Maximus. Each one held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
