Frank Hudy was born in Canora, SK on August 16, 1933 to parents Nicholas and Anelia (nee Kowalchuk) Hudy. They lived near Verigin at the time of Frank's birth. Frank was the youngest of 12 children. There were six boys and six girls in the family.
Frank met Naida (Hope) Kuzma while attending school. They played many sports together with softball and baseball being their favorite sports. They also enjoyed each other's company by attending dances and other social functions together.
Frank and Hope were married on October 30,1954 in the Canora United Church. They had lunch at Hope's parents house after the church service and later had supper at Frank's parents with the dance and celebration to follow. After getting married, they moved to the Hudy homestead where they resided for a year before purchasing the property from Frank's parents. Frank worked on the farm with Hope tending to the livestock and working the farm land.
Frank created a mixing farming business which included growing specialty crops, raising cattle and a tree planting business. Frank loved all aspects of cultivating the land and building a tree nursery. There were often times when you would see Frank working the fields in the early morning and that afternoon planting trees for a customer. Frank was also councillor for the RM of Cote for over 30 years. Frank was proud of his accomplishments building gravel roads for the local community and ensuring the roads were graded and cleared after storms.
He was active in his children's extra curricular activities. He was an active spectator and often helped coach the various teams his sons played on.
Years later while still farming, Frank and Hope purchased the Duck Mountain Motor Hotel and ran the hotel business for many years. In 2015, Frank and Hope sold the farm and moved to Yorkton for a well-deserved retirement.
After Hope’s passing in 2022, Frank moved into the Bentley in Yorkton. Then in 2024, Frank moved to Harbour Landing Village in Regina to be closer to his children. During his time there, he made many great friends with residents and staff. He was affectionately known as "Franky" or "Papa Frank".
Frank is survived by sons Gary, Brad (Bev), and Kevin (Christine), his grandchildren, Kris, David (Ashley), Barb, Kathy (Dallas), Kaitlyn, Kristin, Cole, Tyler (Natasha), Brandon, Sam and his great grandchildren Hayden, Hailey, Josilyn, James, Brooke, Niall and Townes. Frank was predeceased by his wife Hope Hudy, and son Wayne Hudy.
