Violet Bilokreli

Obituary of Violet Bilokreli

The family of Violet Bilokreli of Theodore, SK, beloved wife of the late Steve Bilokreli, sadly announce her passing on September 30, 2025, at the Theodore Health Centre. She was 98 years of age at the time of her passing.

Violet was born on November 12, 1926, on her parent’s farm in the Insinger District. She was the daughter of Harry and Kate Pawchuk (nee Kereluik). Violet grew up on the family farm and attended Westbrook School. Violet then went on to work at various jobs in the surrounding area and on February 24, 1952, was united in marriage to Steve Bilokreli. This then saw Violet return to farm life which was the life she enjoyed the most and where they raised their three children: Ron, Diane, and Darlene. Violet’s greatest joy was knowing and actively participating in the workings of the farm. After Steve’s passing, she remained active on the farm mostly in an advisory and/or consulting capacity. Violet also had a very keen interest in her daughter’s lives, always wanting to know how everything was going for them.

Violet was an active member of the Westbrook Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Saskatchewan Woman’s Institute. Violet went on to join the Theodore Perogy Pinchers and enjoyed getting out to visit with everyone as well as supporting the community that she so loved. Over the years, Violet “Bobs” was a staunch supporter of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting and/or any activities they may have been involved in. She loved to support the Theodore Buffalos hockey team and went on many trips with her friends when the team was playing out of town. When at home and if you stopped at Bobs house for a visit you never walked away without having something to eat. She enjoyed her family popping in anytime for a visit or a game of cards. Bobs spent a lot of time doing Word Find Puzzles which we all believe kept her mind sharp right up until her passing. Bobs also enjoyed reading and watching sports of any kind on television.

Violet was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1991, parents Harry and Kate, brother Berny at the age of 3. Sister Eugenia in infancy, and brothers Eugene and Bernie, sister-in-law Dorothy, and niece Kelly.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son Ron (Cheryl), daughters Diane (Bruce) and Darlene (Stan); grandchildren Kent (Doris) and their family Cristina (Hugo), McKenna, and Taryn; Nikole and her children Aiden, Brodie, and London; Kurt (Colleen), Broden (Bailey), and Kade; Cory (Terri), Eric, and Evan; Scott (Marla), Kyler, and Jersey; Kim (Trevor). Also left to mourn Violet’s passing is sister-in-law Toni Pawchuk, as well as nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant officiating. A family tribute was written by the grandchildren and great grandchildren, given by Scott. Following the service and lunch in Yorkton, the interment took place at the Theodore Town Cemetery with Violet’s son, Ron Bilokreli serving as urn bearer.
