Obituary of Violet Molnar
The family of Violet Molnar of Saltcoats, formerly of Yorkton and the Otthon District, beloved wife of the late Rudolph Molnar sadly announce her passing on October 8, 2025. Violet was 105 years of age.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday October 14 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Andrew's United Church, Yorkton, with Reverend Jen Dresser officiating.
Violet Bertha was the second child born to Frank and Mary Czinkota (Kish) on January 17, 1920. She was delivered by her midwife grandmother, Elizabeth Czinkota.
Vi and her siblings grew up in hard times on the farm but they never went hungry. They had many good times that were also mixed with sorrow and tears.
The good times were filled with lots of dances, picnics and ballgames. Vi did tell me that when she attended the dances she was never a wallflower! The young men were lined up to ask her to dance!
Vi married Rudolph Molnar on November 10, 1941. Rudy served in the army for three years. Once his duties were done they bought the section S.W. 12-24-5 W2nd and proceeded to farm for 40 years. They both loved the farm and worked very hard raising cows, horses, pigs and chickens. Vi also had a huge garden that provided enough produce to feed everyone. Since they had no children of their own, all of the nieces and nephews became their children, spending vacations at their farm and making many wonderful memories.
In their later farming years they would both take jobs for the winter in Yorkton. It was then they built a home there and started spending winters in town. Vi worked as a waitress at the Yorkton Hotel and the Corona. After many years of waitressing, she took a job with chiropractor Dr. Cymbalisty. She really enjoyed her work there.
Vi loved gardening, especially flowers. She was a talented seamstress, making many quilts, quillows, tablecloths, etc. We were all so very fortunate to have many of these items gifted to us.
Vi entered Lakeside Manor Care Home in Saltcoats in December 2013. She lived a life rich with memories of family, friends, travelling, entertaining and sewing. In the last week of her life Vi became very talkative, she had so much to convey to everyone, but what stands out the most was that she was “THANKFUL”. Thankful for the beautiful long life she had had and all the wonderful memories we all helped to make. She had a wish for her nieces and nephews – she wished that we all live long and wonderful lives just as she had.
Vi was predeceased by her husband Rudy, parents Frank and Mary, brothers Ken and Edwin and sister Irene Wilson.
She leaves to mourn her passing her nephews Barry (Jeanne) Czinkota, Rick (Cathy) Wilson, nieces Cindy Wolfram, Brenda (Bob) Devins, Barb (Lars) Bergren, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
