Carol Wiens

Obituary of Carol Wiens

Carol Diane Wiens, 76, was born June 24th 1949, in Nokomis Saskatchewan to Gordon and Evelyn Stowe. She passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms on October 10th 2025.

Carol was predeceased by her loving parents Gordon and Evelyn, and brother Robert. Her positive influence will be dearly missed by her remaining family, brother Garry (Sharon) Stowe, sister Janet (Duane) Smith, children Jordy Hagen and Andrea Wiens, niece Meghan McMillen, nephews Geoff Stowe, Derek & Tyler Smith, grandchildren Hannah, Liam, Rhett and Whit Hagen.

As a young girl, Carol excelled in many sports. Figure skating, fastball and the disc throw to name a few. She grew up in small town Govan Saskatchewan. She spent many hours learning to throw a fastball with her Dad, and many hours of intense discussion on life with her Mom. One of her favourite memories of her Mom was snuggling into her fur coat and remembering the sweet smell of her perfume.

She dreamed of becoming a figure skater, but injury prevented her from fulfilling that dream. She continued her passion by teaching skating to others.

One of her other first jobs was working in a bank in small town Sask. She was ambitious and continued to further her experience in customer service and hospitality, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism.

When in Regina, she met and eventually married Bill Wiens. They ended up settling down in Moose Jaw Sask. Although they divorced after 20 years of marriage, they continued to remain friends until her passing.

Carol was very proud of her work with Sign in Yorkton as a Community Educator and Cultural Program Facilitator. She loved helping people and that shined through everything she put her heart into. Her ability to think outside the box was an asset to anywhere she worked and anyone she shared ideas with. She was always thinking about the next project and who she could involve to make it better and make it happen. She held her coworkers in high regard and it meant a lot to her for all to respect and value each other’s ideas.

She left footprints in many places and many people’s lives. She was fearless when it came to trying something somewhere new, and was never one to sit idle. She loved variety and her many projects showed her love of connection and community. She greatly respected the differences in people and their cultures.

She cherished time with friends and family, whether it was going for lunch, a bit of shopping, the occasional garage sale or a great find at the thrift store. Some of her favourite memories are visiting family in Vancouver and San Antonio, enjoying sunshine, relaxation and a crown and coke.

She always looked very classy and well put together. With her purse matching her boots, she truly had an eye for style and enjoyed looking her best.

Although we cannot imagine life without her, we will always remember her as she truly was. Beautiful, classy and tremendously funny! She always made time to give advice on life to those who asked and would always say it like it was, with honesty, integrity and kindness.

There is no one like her!
