Leon Kreway, beloved husband of Verna Kreway, peacefully entered eternal rest at the Ituna and District Pioneer Lodge on Wednesday, Oct. 29th, 2025. He was 92 years old.

Leon was born to William and Marie (Lewko) Kreway on June 24th, 1933 on the Kreway homestead in the Churchill district. He was the second youngest of 12 siblings. Leon had 9 sisters, Rose Halinak, Pat Battaglia, Kay Nakonechny, Edna Machula, Caroline Kreway, Helen Kotylak, Julia Nakonechny, Pauline Obuch, Natalie Kreway and 3 brothers, Michael Kryway, Walter and Nick Kreway, all of which are predeceased. In 1966 Leon married Verna and together they resided in Ituna until 1974, after which they built their home on the farm, where they actively farmed until 1999. Leon and Verna then moved into Ituna and have been there ever since. Leon moved into the Ituna and District Pioneer Lodge on December 30th, 2019 where he resided until his passing.  Leon leaves to celebrate his life, wife Verna of Ituna, son Ron (Shannon) of Ituna, grandson Raegan, granddaughter Linnae, brother-in-law Burnie Kutas, sisters-in-law, Helen Andre, Staffa Renkas, Evelyn Zabinski as well as many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Leon was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather but more importantly a teacher, forwarding on life’s lessons. Prior to this however, he was born a farmer. His love for the land and cattle was unprecedented.

Leon enjoyed being entertained with TV game shows and sports, spending some retirement time watching Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, curling, baseball and hockey. Leon enjoyed socializing with family and friends, playing cards while visiting until the early hours.

Leon’s love for music, had him listening to vintage old time country, watching the Saturday night dance party on TV and picking up an instrument to play. Leon was a natural musician, self-taught to play any instrument with strings and/or keys. He often entertained the residents at the lodge with his music for as long as he was able.

Leon loved his family dearly and wouldn’t miss an opportunity to spend precious time with Raegan and Linnae, drawing pictures and playing cards and checkers.
