Obituary of Selma Godlien
Selma was born on October 15, 1936, in the Woodrow, Saskatchewan area to Edward and Carrie Croissant (nee Becker). She married Ronald Godlien on February 17, 1954, and then moved to Moose Jaw where they resided and raised their three children: Eldon, Angela, and Rick.
Selma was a homemaker and had a love of cooking and gardening, especially all the flowers that adorned her yard. She worked for Home Care for a few years. She lost her husband in 1986, and in 1993, she moved to Kelliher, where she resided until her health began to fail and then moved to Ituna Care Home. Her hobbies included bingo, shuffleboard at the Senior’s Club, knitting, puzzles, crossword, word search books, and playing cards.
Selma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and openly expressed her love for all. She had a strong, unwavering faith and trust in Jesus Christ, which sustained her through her life. She will be missed by all and she knew God was calling her home.
Selma is predeceased by her husband Ronald; grandson Derrick; great-grandson Presley; son-in-law Laverne; her parents Carrie and Edward; three brothers Abbey, Raymond, and Rueben; and two sisters Edna and Mabel.
Selma is survived by her three children Eldon (Jeanette), Rick (Barbara), and Angela; grandchildren Deanna, Darcy, Darla, Sheldon (Valerie), Shauna (Rob), Ryan, Daryl (Michelle), Brittany (Simon), Jenessa (Colby); her great-grandchildren Taggart, Madison, Katelyn, Landon, Brooklin, Shaye, Brody, Ashton, Gabriel, Josh, Riley, Matthew, Zack, Natalie, and D.J.; great-great grandchildren Emryk and Finley; brother Murray (Junette); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, November 7, 2025 St. Margaret Mary Church with Rev. Brian Mee of Kelliher United Church officiating. Hymns were ‘Where the Roses Never Fade’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’. Interment followed in the Sunset Cemetery, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan with Sheldon, Ryan and Daryl Godlien, Robert Sokochoff, Corrie and Shawn Croissant serving as the casketbearers. Memorials in memory of Selma may be made to the Kelliher Rec Centre or Ituna Pioneer Lodge as gifts of remembrance. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral Home Ituna – Yorkton.
