Obituary of Karen Gunderson
Karen Gunderson, age 65 years, of Yorkton, SK., passed away on November 8, 2025 at the Regina General Hospital, due to health complications.
Karen was the New Year’s baby, born on January 3, 1960 in Kelvington, SK., to parents Harold and Gladys Gunderson. Her early years were spent in Kelvington, then her family moved to Yorkton. After graduating from the Yorkton Regional High School, she attended SIAST to pursue her nursing diploma. In 1980, she began her nursing career at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville and later worked at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre where she completed her career and retired in 2013.
In 1981, Karen married Malcolm Berrecloth and they were blessed with two children, Tara and Joel.
Karen was passionate about the care she provided to her patients and truly loved nursing to its fullest. After retirement, Karen filled her days with joy and connection, whether it was sharing tea with Tara, daily phone chats with Joel or her sisters Shirley and Glenda, or visiting with friends, she was always busy. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren: Ethan, Jaxon, and Lexi. She loved chauffeuring them to sports activities, dance competitions, and cheering them on in all their endeavors. Karen was always there for them.
Karen will be dearly missed by her children, Tara (Mitch) Bilokreli, Joel Berrecloth and Garnet (Sam) Hanna, whom was placed for adoption earlier in life, and they were grateful to reconnect in recent years; her beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Jaxon and Lexi Bilokreli, and Autumn and Ireland Hanna; her sisters, Shirley (Don) Davidson and Glenda (Murray) Foster, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Gladys Gunderson.
The Memorial Service was held on Friday, November 14, 2025 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Shelly Morris officiating.
The inurnment followed in the Trinity Complex Columbarium, Garden of Memories, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Joel Berrecloth serving as urn bearer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance or to Paws & Claws Animal Rescue Inc. as gifts of remembrance.
