Obituary of Dorothy Nabe
The family of Dorothy Nabe of Yorkton, beloved wife of Al Ellingboe and the late Walter Nabe, sadly announce her passing on November 16, 2025.
Dorothy Ann Nabe-Ellingboe was born on August 4, 1942 to Christian Miller and Della Ida Schneider on the family farm in the RM of Shell River. She was the second of four children.
Dorothy married Walter Alexander Nabe at the age of 18, on January 28, 1961. Together they raised five children and farmed side by side. Dorothy always had a big garden, which she tried to keep weed free. She helped with the livestock and loved animals. Dorothy loved curling, fishing and playing crib. When they sold the farm, they moved to Yorkton, Sask., where they lived together until Walter passed on December 15, 2007.
While curling, Dorothy met Albert Ellingboe, and after a time they were married on August 3, 2019. Together they enjoyed curling, fishing, playing cards, doing puzzles and dancing, as long as she was able.
Dorothy was diagnosed with ALS, which caused a steady decline in her ability to function normally. She declined very rapidly before her passing on November 16, 2025 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
Dorothy will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her husband Al, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, by her brothers Ray (Bernadette) and Cliff (Shirley). She is predeceased by her son David (1983), father Christian (1991), husband Walter (2007), sister Bernice (2017) and her mother Della (2020).
The Funeral Service was held on Friday, November 21, 2025 from Zion Lutheran Church, Yorkton with Pastor Kai Buck officiating. Organist Verna Liebrecht led the congregation in the hymns. During the memorial luncheon, Eden Shirley delivered the eulogy.
