Obituary of Irene Minnie Korol
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene Korol on November 22, 2025. Irene was born on May 25, 1941, in Canora, Saskatchewan to parents Bill and Lena Ewanchuk. She grew up on the farm with her 4 sisters and 1 brother in the Canora area. She enjoyed going to dances and had lots of fun working in the hospital.
In 1962, Irene married Orest Korol, and together they built a beautiful family. They were blessed with two children, Kevin and Karmen, who were the pride and joy of Irene’s life.
Throughout the years, Irene lived in several communities across Saskatchewan, including Wadena and Yorkton. After the passing of her husband Orest in 2013 she moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in 2015 to be closer to her family. She made many new friends from her condo complex. Irene enjoyed watching curling, visiting with her family, going for coffee and spending time with her beloved dog Mollie.
Irene’s greatest joy came from being a Baba. She absolutely adored her four grandchildren—Stephanie Korol, Cole Korol, Jordan Kruger, and Kody Kruger. They brought joy, laughter, and endless pride into her life, and she celebrated each of them wholeheartedly. She was so excited to watch Jordan and Kody walk the stage at their graduation in June, but we know she will be watching from above.
Irene will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her quiet strength, her warmth toward everyone she met, and the deep kindness she shared throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in her family and the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Irene was predeceased by her parents Bill and Lena and her brother Henry. She is lovingly remembered by her son Kevin Korol (Karen Kobussen) of Saskatoon, Karmen (Mike) Kruger of Calgary, her four grandchildren Stephanie and Cole Korol and Jordan and Kody Kruger, her four sisters Elaine Lenuik, Anne (Larry) Lozinski, Jean Winnitowy, Helen Hartung, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Interment took place in the Sliding Hills Christian Cemetery, Mezappa. Memorials in memory of Irene may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation as gifts of remembrance.
