Scott Haas

Obituary of Scott Haas

The family of Scott Haas of Burgis Beach, and formerly of Saltcoats, beloved husband of Beth Haas, sadly announce his passing on December 5, 2025.

On December 5, 2025, Scott passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, reminiscing about a life well lived. In his 61 years, he was known for his generosity, his dedication to the community, and most of all, the immense pride he had for his family and grandchildren.

Thomas Scott Haas was born on October 19, 1964, in Yorkton, SK to Casper & Lois (Neal) Haas. Scott grew up on the family farm, where his love of cattle and grain farming first began. He worked alongside his dad for most of his life, and later on with his wife, Elizabeth. Scott was also passionate about hockey, which he started playing at a young age. The highlight of his career was playing with the Yorkton Terriers, followed by many years of Senior Hockey.

Aside from hockey and farming, Scott’s greatest love was his wife. He married Elizabeth on July 12, 1986, and together they began building a life on the family farm. He was a proud father of three children and later became the proudest grandfather to eight grandchildren. Throughout his life, Scott generously gave his time and energy to various boards, committees, and community organizations, most notably serving as an RM of Saltcoats councillor from 1996 until his passing.

Scott and Beth retired in 2018 and began spending most of their time at Burgis Beach, where they made many lifelong friendships. He spent his time fishing, boating, skidooing, golfing and enjoying every moment he could with his grandchildren. Burgis Beach is where Scott spent his final days—surrounded by love, laughter, stories and his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Elizabeth; their children, Tyler (Morgan), Jenna (Derek), and Jordan (Niki); and his grandchildren, Ashlyn, Levi, Chloe, Beckett, Camryn, Maisy, and Rylee. He is also survived by his parents, Casper and Lois Haas, and his siblings, Terry (Wally Pasloski), Bonnie (Verne Trowell), Bobby (Susan), Shannon (Ron Thiesen), and Kim Thompson. Scott was fond of Beth’s siblings, Michael Wood, Karen Schow, Joanne Severson and Nora (Lyle Hanson); his sister-in-law, Dawn (Murray Louden), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Scott will be remembered by all who knew him; to know him was to love him.

Scott is predeceased by his grandparents, Casper and Anna Haas and Tom and Phyllis Neal; Beth’s parents, Guy and Gwen Wood; his sister-in-law, Deb Wood; brothers-in-law, Dennis Schow, Allan Wood, Bob Severson, Brian Yarycky, Shane Thompson and his granddaughter, Mila Kuzek.

A Celebration of Scott's Life was held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from the Saltcoats & District Community Hall, Saltcoats, Saskatchewan with Crystal Bailey officiating. Terry Pasloski and Niki Haas shared words of remembrance. Evan Penner and his sons sang "I'm Not Afraid".The interment followed in the Saltcoats Historic Cemetery with Scott's grandson Levi Kuzek serving as urn bearer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bredenbury Community Daycare (Box 7 Bredenbury, SK S0A 0H0) as gifts of remembrance.
