It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Winnitowy on December 14, 2025 at the age of 95. Jean was born May 3, 1930, the daughter of Bill and Lena Ewanchuk in Hyas, Saskatchewan. Growing up on the family farm, she was always busy with tasks like milking cows, haying, feeding animals and gardening. After graduating, she enjoyed various jobs, always taking great pride in her appearance.
Jean loved to dance, and was known for her skill on the dance floor. She was also an excellent cook, famous for her Russian borscht and pyrizhky.
Jean enjoyed travelling to places like Hawaii, Florida and Nashville. She had a beautiful singing voice and found joy in music.
The loss of her daughter Cindy to cancer in 2022 was a profound sorrow for her. Jean was predeceased by her parents Bill and Lena, her husband Bill, her brother Henry (Hank), her daughter Cindy and her sister Irene Korol.
She is survived by her son Michael (Helga) Zbeetneff, her son-in-law Randy Kozak, sisters Ann (Larry) Lozinski, Helen Hartung, Elaine Leniuk, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special mention goes to her friend and handyman Dwayne, whom she considered a second son, and her friend Sonia Engel, who often visited with treats.
Jean will always be remembered for her love of family, her deep faith, and her great fashion sense.
