Obituary of Edna Richardson

Sister Edna (Honey) Esther Richardson (nee Laube), passed away peacefully at the Canora Hospital on Monday, December 22nd, 2025, and is now in the presence of her Savior. She was born on a farm near Springside, Sk., and grew up enjoying all the adventures that come with rural living. As a young lady, she attended Valley Church in Springside, which is where she met and married the love of her life, Pastor Russell Richardson. They were married on September 29, 1950, and started a wonderful life in the ministry together. Although they settled in the Yorkton area, they traveled across Canada, the USA, and several countries overseas holding tent meetings, and reaching many souls for the Lord Jesus.

Throughout this time, they built and established 8 churches and operated the Training Centre for 22 years. They also operated the radio ministry on 25 different radio stations since 1968, which is still continuing today. In 1968, they built the Yorkton Free Pentecostal Church, desiring to reach as many as possible in their local area. Sister Richardson also wrote and distributed the Free Pentecostal News Letter, 3-4 times per year, since 1968, with her last newsletter being distributed in October of 2025. Throughout the years, many water baptisms were held and thousands of souls were saved.

When Pastor Russel passed away, Sister continued on with the Ministry of the church and lead services right to the end. In addition to their church duties, she and Pastor also had a farm near Stoughton, Sk., and she had no fear of hauling bales on the tractor right up until around 2012, when they sold their cattle.

Sister Richardson was a faithful servant of the Lord and pioneer of the gospel. She had a consuming love for her Lord Jesus Christ and an intense desire to do the will of God.  She loved her family, which included her Church family, and all those she met along the way.

Sister Richardson was predeceased by her husband, Pastor Russel Richardson, her parents, Otto and Elizabeth (Wallman) Laube, her in- laws, Ralph and Lavina Richardson, brothers Herb (Marjorie) Laube and Lawrence (Austrie) Laube, her sisters Anne (Willie) Shindle and Ruth (Evert) Alberts, brother-in-law Bert (Rita) Richardson, and sisters-in-law Lila (Robert) Fenn, and Doreen (Ray) Gilby, and her nephew Eddie (Marilyn) Shindle.

Left to cherish her memory are her Free Pentecostal Church family, many nieces and nephews, and all her brothers and sisters in the Lord, that were such an important part of her life.

Heavenly Father

I ask you to forgive my sins. I confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that Jesus died for my sins and rose from the dead.
Jesus, come into my life and be my personal Lord and Saviour.
I repent of my sins and believe I am born again.  Amen
