Obituary of Lorraine Harris
The family of Lorraine Harris of Yorkton, beloved wife of the late Don Harris, sadly announce her passing on December 26 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Her daughters Donna, Joanne, Gail, and most of her grandchildren were able to spend her final day with her sharing stories, Christmas carols and remembering all the fun family times.
Lorraine was born in Swan River, Manitoba on December 6, 1934. She lived with her parents Helen & Dmytro Serenchuk in Manitoba until the family moved to Yorkton where she attended high school. This is where she met the love of her life, Donald Harris.
Lorraine and Don lived and raised their family in Yorkton for over 58 years. Lorraine is survived by her sister Leona Freeman of Winnipeg, her daughters Donna Harris (Rick Ochitwa) of Saskatoon, Joanne Ganton (Robin) of Calgary, and Gail Harris (Matt Lennon) of Wilton New York, and her grandchildren Nolan, Lauren, Claire, Brayden, Brody, Kasen and Gabrielle, as well as extended family members and friends.
Lorraine was an avid curler, gardener, knitter, loved downhill skiing, fishing, and camping with the family. She was an active volunteer with the Creators group at Westview United Church where she knitted many prayer shawls for congregation members over the years. Lorraine was known for her fabulous cooking and baking, her beautiful flowers and garden, and always being eager to help others. She will be remembered as a very special lady for her loving friendships, her smiles and laughter.
Lorraine celebrated her 91st birthday on December 6th with her close friends and family in Yorkton. Shortly thereafter she relocated to Prairie Springs Personal Care Home in Saskatoon to be closer to family over Christmas. She has now joined her beloved Donnie and the angels.
Her daughters thank all her friends and family for their love, kindness and friendship with mom, dad and our family over the years. A Celebration of Life will take place in Yorkton in the summer when the flowers are blooming, which was Mom's wish.
Memorial donations may be made to Westview United Church, Pancreatic Cancer Canada or to The Harris Hope Foundation as gifts of remembrance.
Arrangements for Lorraine have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
