Obituary of Marie (Mary) Pelletier
The family of Marie (Mary) Pelletier of Dunleath, beloved wife of the late Gilbert Pelletier, sadly announce her passing on January 3, 2026. Mary was 90 years of age.
Marie (Mary) Pelletier was born on October 13, 1935 in Marivel; daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Pelletier. Marie was united with the love of her life Gilbert Pelletier in the summer of 1961. The couple lived in Medicine Hat, Alberta and
following the birth of their first child they moved to the Yorkton area where they continued growing their family with the birth of their two daughters. Marie worked at various jobs during her career including childcare, waitress, sewing
instructor, foster parent, and class kokum. Marie was a loving and supporting wife and was the backbone of their family. Marie was often found working side by side with her husband or children, spending time with the people she loved most. Marie and Gilbert were foster parents for over 25 years and had impacted so many children's lives who grew to call them mom and dad, years after they left the farm they would often stop in and visit them as adults. Marie was a family lady who loved being around all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was also the epitome of what a wife should strive to be and made sure to show her daughters and granddaughters how to look after their children and spouses. Marie had numerous past times but some of her favorites would be playing bingo (even travelling during a blizzard to get to the PK), playing cards, or watching game shows, if she wasn't in front of the TV watching game shows she was behind the backstop watching grandchildren or nieces/nephews play ball. Marie enjoyed the annual family camping trip to Batoche and after her husband passed she loved spending summers at the farm in the campers being surrounded by all of her family. After the passing of her husband, her grandson Curtis (Farrah) and their children moved out to Dunleath to take care of her, however she took care of them. She helped raise their children as her own and was a true blessing in their lives. Her Daughters Eleanore and Avaline would also take turns taking her to Saskatoon for weeks at a time or coming to stay in Dunleath with her. Marie passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family on January 3, 2026 at 90 years of age.
Marie was predeceased by her parents Robert and Elizabeth, Husband Gilbert, Son Gale, Daughter in law Rena, and Daughter Melinda. Brothers Charlie and George, Sisters Lillian (Martha), Madelen, Gilda, Bertha (Marie) and Margaret.
