Obituary of Ken Emberton
The family of Ken Emberton, beloved husband of Verla Emberton of Beausejour, MB, sadly announce his passing on Sunday, December 28, 2025. He was 80 years of age.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey officiating.
Memorial donations in memory of Ken Emberton may to made to a Charity of One's Choice as gifts of remembrance.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral and Cremation Care, Yorkton.
Kenneth Allan Emberton was born on June 24, 1945, in the town of Lestock, Saskatchewan, to Doug and Winnie Emberton. Ken was the youngest of three siblings. Ken attended the Lakewood Vale school on the home quarter just outside of Punnichy, Saskatchewan.
Ken often recalled his childhood on the family farm. He lived most of his working life in Dryden, Ontario, where he was a heavy equipment operator, operating dozers, graders, backhoes, loaders, cranes, and concrete pump trucks. While in Ontario he enjoyed the outdoors with family and friends, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and boating. He also enjoyed carpentry work where he did many renos to the family homes, and the family log cabin at Perrault falls.
Ken retired with his wife Verla, in Ituna, Saskatchewan. In this stage of life, dad started collecting antique cars, a total of nine, and showing them in many different car shows, which he won many prizes for his vehicles. He enjoyed being part of the car club and meeting up with everyone at the monthly meetings. The other passion Ken found was going to the home farm to visit with his brother Billie, and to see and ride his horse, Barney. Most mornings you could find Ken at the local coffee shop catching up on the world and local news.
Ken was predeceased by his father Doug in 1956, mother Winnie in 1999, brothers Walter in 2023, and Billie in 2024.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Verla, of 44 years, son Warren (Cindy); daughters Terri Desserre (Randy) and Cindy (Stacy); seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
