Wilma Jean Hrenyk, age 66, of Ituna, Saskatchewan, passed away on January 11, 2026, in her hometown. She leaves behind a life quietly and generously lived—one marked by compassion, service, faith, and deep devotion to family.

Born on October 12, 1959, to Ed and Jean Windysh, Wilma grew up on a multigenerational farm near Hubbard. As the family later welcomed two more children, she naturally took on the role of protector and helper, developing a compassionate heart and a lifelong duty to stand up for “the little guy.” She attended elementary school in Hubbard and high school in Ituna, SK. After graduating in 1977, she went on to complete her education degree and accepted her first teaching position in Lebret, SK. Not long after, Wilma met her future husband Dave and the two married in 1982. They decided to start their new life together in Prince Albert, SK. Wilma was happiest surrounded by family, and after being blessed with four children of their own, their household and lives were full of work, laughter, and togetherness.

Dave and Wilma were given an opportunity to return to the Hubbard homestead to continue farming and the family relocated in 1994. Wilma accepted a part-time teacher’s assistant position at Ituna School and took on substitute teaching roles throughout the surrounding school divisions. As her own children approached their high school graduations, Wilma began preparing for this next stage of her life by returning to her own studies, completing correspondence courses in local government administration. After selling the family farm in 2008, Wilma and Dave purchased an acreage in the RM of Bon Accord. There, they spent many years creating a home where family gathered often and memories were made easily. Wilma became the well-known and respected RM Administrator for Ituna Bon Accord and poured herself into the role, finding retirement in 2024 a difficult decision.

Wilma was deeply involved in the communities of Ituna, Hubbard, and Goodeve. Throughout her life she served on countless boards, clubs, and committees, often stepping into leadership, financial, or secretarial roles. In later years, she found special joy teaching Sunday school at Ituna Victory Church, sharing her favorite Bible stories with the children. Wilma gave many years of dedicated service to others and impacted so many people. Wilma will be remembered for her empathy, kindness, and the way she made people feel seen and heard.

Wilma is lovingly remembered by her mother, Jean Windysh; her husband, Dave; her children, Ruth (Aaron), Daniel (Amber), Jeanette (David), and Jonathan; her grandchildren, Jaden, Ariana, Brinley, Taylor, Logan, Sophie, David Sean “LD”, and Solomon; her sister Edwina (Tom) Avant; and many extended family members and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Ed Windysh; her brother, David Windysh; her parents-in-law, Olga and John Hrenyk; and many aunts, uncles, colleagues, and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
