Obituary of George Lazurko
LAZURKO - George was born on March 7, 1933 on the family farm in the Jedburgh district. He was the youngest of five children. George Lazurko of Yorkton SK passed away suddenly on January 20, 2026.
George worked first on his Willowbrook farm, met Mary Prymak, and they were wed July 15 1956. They were blessed with two boys, Kelly and Brent. After Mary passed in 1968, George moved his family to Yorkton, where he worked at many different ventures. On December 25th 1995 George was introduced to Stella Halldorson and developed a friendship that lasted over thirty years. He was blessed with the love and support of Stella and her family over this time.
George was selfless and always put family above all else. He loved to tease, play (and cheat) at cards with Stella, his family, and friends. It was always more fun when George got caught and pouted if he lost. He lived a long life filled with hard work, family, and plenty of laughter. Known for his sharp wit, and great sense of humour, George could always be counted on for a clever remark, a joke, or a perfectly timed one-liner that left everyone smiling.
George leaves behind family and friends who will forever cherish his memory, his humour, and the life lessons he passed down. He will be remembered with love, smiles, and stories that will continue to be shared for years to come.
George was predeceased by his parents Theodore and Julia (nee Kozie), brothers Pete, Laudy, and Jerry, his wife Mary (nee Prymak) in March 1968, granddaughter Catherine, December 1991, and his son Brent, March 1998.
He leaves to mourn his passing, and cherish his memory, his only sister Olga, and loving partner, Stella. He leaves his son Kelly (Karen); grandchildren Jillian Lazurko, Madelaine (Justin) Chappell, Victoria (Rick) Bryksa, and Thomas (Tia) Lazurko. George will be especially missed by his great grandchildren Ty George Lazurko, James Brent Chappell, Isabella Lynn Bryksa.
