Obituary of Alpha James Shingoose
Jimmy Shingoose is survived by his son Festus and later called CrazyHorse (cat); his special Girls who he called his Daughters Rae Shingoose (John) and Danielle Shingoose. His Mother Jennie “Jane” Shingoose; his Brothers Wilfred Shingoose; Raymond Shingoose (Trudy) his Sisters Elaine “Nono Girls” Shingoose (Kyle), Winnifred “Winnie” Shingoose, Angeline Shingoose; his special Grandchildren, Sky-Lynn Shingoose, Darius Shingoose, Shirleen Lorraine Reanne Shingoose, Rylan Prettyshield, Mackenzee Prettyshield, Jonathon Norton “JJ”, Traizdin Shingoose, Raquel Shingoose, Jenaci Pelly, Victoria Pelly; his Nieces Rena Prettyshield, Paige Shingoose, Raven Shingoose, Shanna Shingoose, Kyra Pelly, Jada Shingoose; his Nephews Kelsey Shingoose, Kelly Shingoose, Danny Shingoose, Dustin Shingoose, Wilfred Shingoose Jr, Elijah Starr, Jarrad Starr, Glen Starr Miranda Starr; His Uncles Leonard Keshane, Ernie Keshane and lots and lots of Keshane Cousins too many to name. His friend Picha who helped him out.
Jimmy is predeceased by his Father George Shingoose (Bear); his Sister’s Earlene Shingoose, Edna Shingoose; his Niece Sharee Shingoose; his Grandparents Henry & Agnes Keshane; and his Grandparents James & Miranda Shingoose. His fav Cousin Tony “Stoney” Keshane and his best friend Big Russel.
Growing up Jimmy is remembered to be the smartest one in the class, he did not have to study. Jimmy was an accountant by trade, didn’t need a calculator. He enjoyed reading, and loved his Buffalo Sabers. He lived a quiet lifestyle. Jimmy became a homeowner and was so proud of this accomplishment; his most prized possession was his truck. Jimmy loved his cat Festus later said his Indian Name was Crazyhorse. Jimmy had a great sense of humor. He will be missed.
A Visitation for Family and Friends was held on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. A Funeral Service was held on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, officiated by Elder: Ted Strongquill. The Eulogy was given by Raymond Shingoose, Casket Bearers were Kevin Shingoose, Jarrod Starr, Norman “Pitcha” Straightnose, Kelsey Shingoose, John Pelly, and Henry “Lil Guy” Keshane. The Honorary Casket bearers were Ronald “Gub” Whitehawk, Andy Keshane, Bryden Shingoose, Eddy Cote, Clifford Quewezance, Lawrence Quewezance, as well as all of his family and friends that he loved and loved him.
