Obituary of Glen MacNeil
The family and friends of Glen MacNeil of Rhein, sadly announce his passing on January 29, 2026. Glen was 66 years of age.
Glen Louis Macneil was born on June 29th, 1959 to Roderick & Janet MacNeil (nee Young). Glen spent his life between Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan. In 2017 Glen put down roots in Rhein, Saskatchewan where he purchased a house and proceeded to make it his own by adding his unique craftmanship to it. He was always working on one project or another. Glen was musically inclined and at an early age taught himself to play guitar quite well. He loved being with family members whenever the occasion came around. Glen met Valerie Stricker in 2019 and they became fast friends. They spent their time together on seadoos and skidoos or helping each other with whatever house project was going on at the time. Glen also loved playing crib and spent many afternoons and evenings with Valerie, cribbing the night away. Glen became ill in late December of 2025 and after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Glen passed away on January 29th, 2026 surrounded by the family that so dearly loved him.
Glen was predeceased by his father, Roderick MacNeil and his brother, Michael MacNeil.
Glen is survived by his parents, Frank & Jan Rivers, Sister Lynn Stevens Roth (Daniel), Brother David MacNeil (Cheryl), sister Gwen Staltari, Daughter Tara Carpenter (Ryan) (grandchildren Joseph & Logan), Son Steven MacNeil (Vanessa) (grandchild Lauren), Daughter Angela Brown (Tim) (grandchildren Tyler, Shane & Christina and great grandchildren Jesse & Laela), his best friend and companion Valerie Stricker as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
