Obituary of Jeff Prodonchuk
Jeff was born on March 4, 1982, in Regina, Saskatchewan, and was raised in the village of Ebenezer. From a young age, Jeff had a strong love for the outdoors and a work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life, but above all else, Jeff loved his family.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Mike and Donna Prodonchuk, and Ken and Frances Smithson; his mother-in-law Kim Lozinski; his uncle Michael Prodonchuk; and his cousin Kendon Ferris. While he faced the loss of many loved ones in his life, Jeff continued to live with kindness, strength, and a big heart.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife Cheryl (nee Lozinski), whom he met in 2010 at the Pioneer Elevator in Yorkton. They were together for 11 years until they were married on June 19, 2021, at Burgis Beach – a place that held special meaning for their family. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter while raising their two sons, Joshua (2011) and Jordan (2014). Jeff also proudly stepped into the role of stepfather to Cheryl’s daughter, Lillian (Orrie) Zoltan-Lozinski, loving her as his own.
Jeff was the beloved son of Brenda and Dale Prodonchuk. He was a proud brother to Steven (Kim) Prodonchuk and a fun-loving and caring uncle to Matthew and Dawson Prodonchuk, Kaylee Prodonchuk, and Kennedy (Kyle) Cherneski. He was also a proud great-uncle to Kennedy and Kyle’s son Johnny. Jeff will also be deeply missed by his father-in-law Timothy Lozinski and his brother-in-law Michael (Yukari) Lozinski, along with many extended family members and close friends.
Jeff attended school in Ebenezer until Grade 6, then Yorkdale Central School for Grades 7 to 9, before continuing on to Yorkton Regional High School. He began working at Powell Fertilizer in Ebenezer, later travelling to Alberta to work on the pipeline. Eventually, Jeff returned home and joined the family trucking business. He spent most of his working life as a truck driver and was especially proud of his work as a custom grain hauler with Prodonchuk Trucking, where he earned the respect and friendship of many.
Jeff was a quiet guy who didn’t say a lot, but when he did, people listened. He was mechanically inclined and had a natural ability to figure things out. No matter the problem, Jeff always seemed to have an answer or a way to fix it, and he was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Jeff also loved listening to music – LOUD! He had a collection of speakers and took great pride in making his music as loud and clear as possible, something that always brought him a lot of enjoyment.
Jeff truly loved spending time with his family. Many of his happiest moments were spent camping at their seasonal site at Burgis Beach, where he took great pride in gardening and making their campsite feel like a second home. He loved taking his boys on adventures, whether it was dirt biking in the summer or snowmobiling in the winter, often ending the day with a wiener roast and time together outdoors. More recently, Jeff rediscovered his love for snowboarding and enjoyed making memories with his family at the ski hills. Jeff loved his family deeply and was happiest when everyone was together.
Jeff also had a soft spot for animals. He shared his home with three cats and one dog, who were a very special part of his life. It was not uncommon to find him having a cat nap with his favourite cat Willy or carrying his dog Abby around like a baby. They brought him endless comfort, companionship, and joy.
Jeff will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone who needed it. He had a quiet strength and a warm heart that touched many lives. He leaves behind countless memories filled with laughter, adventure, and love.
Jeff’s family and friends will carry his memory in their hearts forever and will honour him by living with the same love, kindness, and adventurous spirit that he showed every day.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories of the incredible man he was.
Memorial donations in memory of Jeff may be made to SIGN - for Mental Health Counseling as gifts of remembrance.
