Obituary of Gordon Kotylak
Gordon Kotylak was born on August 20, 1958, in Yorkton Saskatchewan to Jerry and Lucy (nee Chorney) Kotylak. On February 15, 2026 with his family by his side, Gordon passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gordon was raised on the family farm and received his schooling in Kelliher Saskatchewan. It was there he met the love of his life, Marlis Kosloski, whom he married on August 5, 1978. Gordon and Marlis were blessed with 3 children - Jason in 1980, Kyla in 1982 and Jeremy in 1984.
Throughout Gordon’s life, he and Marlis were owners of the Esso bulk stations in Porcupine Plain Saskatchewan, Lacombe Alberta and Sedgewick Alberta. In addition, the couple farmed in the Kelliher area. Gordon was very passionate about farming, a lifestyle he shared with Marlis and their two sons. He would call upon his son in law, Chad, to help on the farm wherever help was needed, and made sure to involve his daughter and younger grandchildren (Paisley, Jenaya and Jaxon), by having them help out with meals in the fields and taking them for tractor and combine rides. Gordon was especially proud when he taught Jaxon to drive the combine. Gordon poured his heart into all that he did and took pride in his work. Aside from farming, Gordon loved camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was very playful with the grandchildren, and was frequently seen joking around with them.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents Lucy in 1984 and Jerry in 2010, brother Kenny Kotylak in 2014 and nephew Devin Kotylak in 1999.
Gordon leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Marlis; children Jason of Kelliher, Kyla (Chad) Rist of Wadena, and Jeremy of Kelliher; grandchildren Haiylee (Matthew), Summer, Paisley, Jenaya and Jaxon; sister Brenda (John) Haggerty of Regina; nephews and nieces Ryan (Daniella), Morgan (Michael - Vincent, Anthony), Kyle (Laura – Rylie, Laci),Tyler (Jaelyn), as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
