Kevin Bryksa

Obituary of Kevin Bryksa

It is with deep sorrow and abundant love that we announce the quiet passing of Kevin Dale Bryksa of Yorkton, Saskatchewan on February 16, 2026, at the age of 64 years. He was a devoted husband, loving father, attentive grandfather and loyal friend. Kevin’s departure leaves an unfillable void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love they shared.

Kevin Dale Bryksa was born to William (Billy) and Jean Bryksa (nee Munro) on February 5, 1962, in Yorkton Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of 3 sons. Kevin’s lifelong love of sports developed during his early years.  He excelled in hockey and was an overall athlete as a player of baseball, football and slow pitch; but his golf game needed a little work.

Kevin married Gwen Ohochinsky on May 30, 1981. Their love story began at age 5 with an innocent Eskimo kiss and developed beyond childhood crushes when they officially began dating at age 16. Their home was created in Yorkton, later moving to Springside and Selkirk, Manitoba before returning home to Yorkton in 1997. Together they welcomed 3 children, Kelly, Brian and Kayla. Kevin embraced fatherhood in every aspect, apart from diaper changes; that duty was handed off whenever possible. He led by example, displaying the importance of honesty, integrity and hard work. He loved unconditionally, supporting and mentoring his children through the ups and downs of daily life. Being a grandfather allowed Kevin to embrace the little boy that still existed inside the man. He made a point to tell each member of his family that he loved and appreciated them at every opportunity.

Kevin began working as a drywaller to support his family in 1980 and he continued to excel in this profession as an employee. In the early years, when local jobs were scarce, he sought work elsewhere. He worked on various job sites in Edmonton, Vancouver and even traveled to Romania to work in 1991. Kevin established KB Drywall in 2015, growing the business with Brian joining his team in 2017. Kevin’s work ethic was exemplary, and he generously shared his skills, helping family and friends with their renovations and home improvements, usually only accepting a beer as payment.

Kevin’s adventurous spirit shined with much of his life spent outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, quadding and snowmobiling with family and friends. He generously volunteered his time as a boy scout leader, hockey coach and volunteer fireman. Kevin took great pleasure in the simple things like shooting the breeze with colleagues while enjoying a beer at the end a workday, playing cards while visiting family and friends and challenging the cuzzins to bet on their favorite sports team.

Kevin touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humor, warm spirit, joyful presence, and outgoing nature. Kevin was a genuine friend with a heart of gold. He possessed an uncanny ability to connect with just about anyone and took the time to make others feel welcome. He had a disarming wit and loved to make people laugh. He had a rare gift of making everyone around him feel special.

Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gwen; children: Kelly (Krissy) of Medicine Hat, Brian (Erin) of Yorkton, Kayla (Trey) Niebergall of Saskatoon; grandchildren: Neleh Bryksa, Ellie Bryksa, Sam Thomas, Levi Thomas, Reuben Thomas, Braden Johnson, Ainsley Bryksa, Mason Bryksa, Devynn Bryksa, Emily Niebergall and Natalie Niebergall; mother, Jean Bryksa; siblings: Gary (Geri) Bryksa and Grant (Cindy) Bryksa; in-laws: Dean (Gale) Ohochinsky, Colette (Emil) Benko, Shaun (Doug) McBride, Rhonda Ferleyko (Paul Robb), Rick Ohochinsky and Nick (Kassie) Ohochinsky; a large extended family including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and numerous friends.
