Shayne Yasinski

Obituary of Shayne Yasinski

Shayne Yasinski, loving husband of Carmen and son of the late Don and Phyliss Yasinski, passed away suddenly on March 11, 2026, after a brief illness.

Shayne was born on November 13, 1973, in Climax, Saskatchewan.  His early childhood years were spent in Indian Head where his parents owned and operated the Shayne Inn.   Years later they moved to an acreage just south of Yorkton and his parents opened Mr. Shayne's and Stetsons.  The years that followed were filled forming lifelong friendships where Shayne embraced adventure riding basically anything with a motor often flying through the ditches onto the grid road scaring anyone who had the misfortune of driving by at the time.   Their acreage soon became the yard to hang out at where ramps were built and everyone with a bike was welcome.  A few years later Shayne started an RC track at the acreage with his friend Rob and again the yard became a gathering place for people - so many fun times.

Like Shayne's parents, he was an entrepreneur at heart.  He began with Shaynelandjams promoting concerts and bringing music to the community.  From there he began a successful dj business, owning 2 restaurants - he was most well known for his pizzas at Big Zee's Pizza.  Shayne and Carmen operated Big Zee's for 17 years and in that time their restaurant became more than a business - it was a gathering place, a second family, and a home to many.  Most recently he owned and operated Parkland Drain Service for almost 10 years.  Shayne's parents instilled in him customer service and he took great pride in his work and was known for his knowledge, honesty and genuine care for his customers.  His approach to business was rooted in connection - he valued people above all else and it wasn't uncommon for him to accept a jar of pickles or a homemade pie in lieu of payment.  That was just who Shayne was.  He will be fondly remembered for his enormous heart and his generous nature.

Shayne and Carmen met in the summer of 1999.  Little did they know it was the beginning of a truly great love story.  They married on August 14, 2004 at their acreage and built a life together sharing in each other's business ventures and were happiest when they were working side by side whether it was making pizzas or clearing drains they just truly enjoyed being together.  He also encouraged Carmen to start their greenhouse, Molly's Greenhouse, with Carmen's mom.  He always emphasized the importance of enjoying what you do with who you love.  This year  Molly's is celebrating its 20th year - a milestone Shayne was so excited for and proud of.

Shayne and Carmen shared a love of travel and adventure, their favorite holiday destination being Costa Rica.  He often talked about retiring to a warm destination and enjoying the simpler things in life with Carmen by his side.

Shayne had a deep love of animals, and over the years shared that same passion with Carmen helping those in need.  Shayne always kept a dog leash and dog treats in the van just in case he saw a stray or just to give treats to dogs at various homes he worked at.  Although we had many beloved animals over the years, Squirt (Kevin) became his sidekick and the two were inspeparable.  They had a shared love of fireworks and shenanigans!  After Squirt passed away, a new pup named Curtis entered his life and became his little man and once again he found love in a new companion.

Although Shayne and Carmen did not have children of our own, they often referred to our niece, Jessa and our nephews, Zak, Jaxon & Noah, as "our kids".  Shayne's gentle nature, his patience and his "kid at heart" spirit showed the kids how to have fun in the country riding mini-bikes, quads and go karts.   The kids have said these memories formed a big part of their childhood that they will not forget.  He was looking forward to again sharing these adventures with Lacey and Lucas this summer.  A great joy came into Shayne's life when he became a great-uncle to Jessa and Eric's son, Ronin who he met shortly before he passed away.

After losing his parents, Shayne embraced life with his new family, in-laws, Wayne and Sharon Zborosky, Danny (Leane) and Angela (Darcy).   Many good times were spent at family gatherings either in Regina or at the cottage.  Those relationships were important to Shayne.

Shayne is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Carmen, his mother-in-law, Sharon, his brother-in-law, Danny (Leane) Jessa (Eric) Lacey, Lucas & Ronin, Zak (Keanne);  sister-in-law Angela (Darcy), Jaxon and Noah (Taylor).   His little man, Curtis, and dog his other canine companions, Champ, Bugsy & Pebbles.   Over the years Shayne formed many longterm friendships - please know how each and every one of you were so important in his life and he held so many memories close.

He is survived by his half-siblings and their families.   He is also survived by many aunts, uncles & cousins.  He was predeceased by his parents, Don & Phyliss Yasinski, his father-in-law, Wayne, his special lil buddy, Squirt, his grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins along with some very close friends.

Thank you to so many friends, neighbors and family members who have been an endless source of support throughout this difficult time offering assistance, food and company.  Thank you to the team of ICU nurses who took such good care of Shayne during his time there.  Your care and close attention did not go unnoticed.  Thank you to David at Bailey's Funeral Home for his kindness and guidance.

Please live life.  Go on that trip, do that special project and most of all tell everyone how much you love them often.  Tomorrow is not promised.  Live a big life - no regrets!

Thank you Shayne for sharing your big beautiful life with us.  You are missed more than you could ever know.

For those wishing to do so, donations in Shayne's memory can be made to the Yorkton SPCA to continue helping animals in need.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
