Obituary of Patricia (Pat) Warburton

Patricia (Pat) Evelyn Warburton

January 30, 1942 - March 29, 2026

Pat was born to Edward and Eve Pearce (nee Gordon-Phillips) in Liverpool, England January 30th, 1942, but spent most of her childhood in the Welsh village of Cyffylliog, attending the village school from ages four to nine. She would then move to the Welsh town of Denbigh and attend grammar school there, as well as in nearby Ruthin.

After completing her childhood education Pat went on to learn general nursing at the Liverpool Royal Infirmary from 1960-1963, followed by a midwifery education at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin, Ireland from 1964-1965. She then embarked on a hitchhiking trip through Europe and took her first nursing position in Germany. Afterwards, she returned to Denbigh to take up a position in psychiatric nursing at the North Wales Hospital, availing of an opportunity to work with her sister Sylvia from 1965-67. It was there where she would meet co-worker Keith Warburton, her future husband. From the North Wales Hospital, she would move to the Denbighshire Infirmary from 1968-1975.

Pat and Keith were married in 1967, and in the following years grew their family with the births of three children. In 1975, as Commonwealth countries around the world looked for nurses, she and her family moved to Yorkton, Saskatchewan, where she would work at the hospital until her retirement in 2007. During her career in Yorkton she would work as a surgical ward nurse, as well as an operating room and recovery room nurse.

Over her life, Pat had many interests and hobbies. She kept active with yoga, disco and belly dancing, karate lessons, and gardening. She engaged her artistic side with drawing and scrapbooking. She continued her avid interest in music, reading, and travelled often. In later years, travel included driving trips to various US cities to watch the Toronto Blue Jays. She also enjoyed birdwatching and animals.

Pat is predeceased by her son Martyn, husband Keith, siblings Sylvia, Stephen, and Richard, as well as her parents and in-laws. She leaves to mourn daughter Kathryn, son Peter, grandson Jimmy, as well as cherished friends and extended family worldwide. She will also be missed by beloved canine companion, Theo.

Pat’s children would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff of St. Paul’s Lutheran Home in Melville for the stellar and compassionate care she received after her admission in 2024 due to dementia.

In lieu of flowers, we ask those who would like to honour Pat’s memory to consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society or a local animal rescue organization of choice.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
