Obituary of Mel Rode

The family of Melvyrn Rode of Yorkton, beloved husband of Alice, sadly announce his passing on April 5, 2026. Melvyrn was 91 years of age.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.

Melvyrn Earl Rode was born in Riverhurst Sk Sept 1934 to Tilley and Edmond Rode. He was the oldest of five children. While in high school he started working for the railroad and worked there until after he was married. He married Alice Schick of Roblin in 1972, and they started farming near Tugaski SK. Their first child, Carson (Nik) was born the following year.  They purchased her uncle Jack Stinson's farm near Roblin MB and moved there in 1976. The couple adopted their second son Neil in January 1977. Mel and Alice farmed at Roblin until he retired.  Mel and Alice moved to Yorkton in 2012, residing there until his heath declined and he moved into the Yorkton Care Home. 

Mel was predeceased by his great granddaughter Harper Mitchel, son Nik (Carson Rode), brothers Howard Rode, Dennis Rode sisters Norma Cook and Gail Cyzmar. He is survived by his wife Alice Rode, sister in laws Donna and Ivy.  Son Neil (Jen) Rode, their seven children and five grandchildren.
