Obituary of Ken Atkinson
Ken was born on December 3, 1946, in Prince Albert, Ken lived a full and vibrant life that took him through Yorkton, Peace River, Edmonton, and ultimately Calgary. Along the way, he built not only a successful career as a salesman, but a reputation as someone who could connect with anyone—always ready with a story, a laugh, or a perfectly timed sarcastic remark.
Ken was a devoted husband to his wife Barb and a proud father to his daughters, Lana (husband Mike) and Rhyna (husband lance). He was a loving grandfather to Kyle, Quinton, Mackenzie, and Jaxon, who brought him immense joy and pride. As well as a few family additions Serena (Kyles wife), Andreas (Mackenzie's Fiance), and sarah (Jaxon’s girlfriend).
Deeply rooted in his community, Ken was an active member of the Kinsmen Club and the K40s, and was honoured as Citizen of the Year in Yorkton—recognition of the lasting impact he made on those around him.
Ken had a passion for sports and simple pleasures. He was a devoted fan of the Blue Jays and rarely missed a chance to watch a game. He loved golf—whether watching it or out on the course himself—and especially cherished time spent golfing with his daughter Rhyna, her husband Lance, and his beloved wife Barb. In his younger years, he also enjoyed time on the ice as a goaltender.
Known for his kindness, humour, wit, and unmistakable sarcasm, Ken had a way of making people feel welcome and leaving them smiling. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
